Maintaining Your Straight Smile

Going through orthodontic treatment of any type requires a commitment of anywhere from six months to several years. It is usually a significant financial investment, especially if you get traditional braces or Invisalign. Once your treatment is complete, you will have something to show for it: a straight, beautiful, and confident smile. You may need to wear a retainer for a certain period of time to keep your teeth aligned and your smile beaming.

Holding Teeth in Their Fixed Position

After orthodontic treatment is over and your braces have been taken off, you might think you are in the clear. This is often not the case since recently straightened teeth can shift very quickly. At Dentiq Dentistry, we believe that wearing a retainer is often essential to a successful outcome for your treatment. Depending on the nature of the orthodontic adjustment you have received, we will likely recommend that you wear a retainer for a certain period of time.

There are a few common types of retainers, including:

  • Hawley retainers
  • Fixed retainers
  • Removable retainers
  • Clear/Essix retainers

Creating & Fixing Retainers in Our State-of-the-Art Laboratory

With so many different types of retainers out there, we treat patients and fit them for retainers on an individual basis. We want to ensure that we fit you for the right type of retainer which will fit your dental needs and lifestyle. Certain types of retainers are less intrusive or more visible than others, and some are easier to chew with and clean.

Because we have an in-house laboratory, we can fit you for retainers and make them quickly in our laboratory. If your retainer is damaged or lost, we can help you repair or replace it rather quickly so your dental treatment is not affected.
